AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team would rack up six hits but come up short to Mary Hardin-Baylor 4-0 in the series finale on Saturday.
Haley Dennett led the Tornados at the plate, recording two hits on the day, her eighth multi-hit game of the season.
The Cru would open the game with a run in the first on a double to the gap and the Tornados came to bat trailing 1-0 in the first.
In the third, still facing a one-run deficit, CTX would have runners on the corners with one away and Brianna Heredia at the plate, but an attempted double steal would result in
Ashley Hallmark being tagged out on a close play at the plate.
In the fifth, UMHB would add to their lead with three runs on four hits to push it to 4-0.
The Tornados would look to rally in their final at-bat in the seventh, but after a
Lulu Arroyo one-out single, CTX would go down in order to end the game, dropping 4-0.
The Tornados will continue conference play when they head to Alpine, Texas for a three-game set with Sul Ross State beginning on Friday with a doubleheader at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
