AUSTIN, Texas –
Anissa Garcia hit an RBI single up the middle in the first inning to give the Concordia Texas softball team an early lead, but it was not enough as the Tornados fell in the series finale against UT Tyler 6-1 Wednesday at Tornado Softball field.
The game was the final non-conference contest of the regular season as CTX falls to 11-20 on the season.
Haley Dennett started the rally in the first for the Tornados with a lead off hit by pitch. After moving to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Payton Walker, Garcia delivered a two-out RBI single up the middle to give CTX an early 1-0 lead.
Garcia, a junior from Corpus Christi, Texas, extended her hitting streak to four games and now sits second on the team with 12 RBIs this season.
Dennett, meanwhile, continued her impressive season with a solid series against the Patriots. The senior out of Edinburg, Texas, finished the series 4-for-8 at the plate.
After being held scoreless through the first two innings, UT Tyler took the lead in the third with three runs on a total of five singles.
The Patriots added two runs in the sixth on a two-run homer and one more in the seventh to seal the 6-1 victory.
The Tornados will return to action on Thursday with a key American Southwest Conference clash against Belhaven at 7:00 p.m. at Tornado Softball Field.
