GLEN ROSE, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's golf team shot 313 in the final round of the American Southwest Conference Championships, smashing the previous 18-hole school record, and recorded their best finish at the tournament, placing second at the Squaw Valley Golf Course on Sunday.
The Tornados, led by
Loren Nevers' final round score of 77 (+5), shot 313 for the day, breaking the previous school record of 320, which had occurred twice, most recently at the Abilene Intercollegiate back on Oct. 23, 2017.
Concordia Texas would finish as the runner-up, shooting 321-340-313 – 974 for the championships, holding off UT Dallas by three strokes, while Mary Hardin-Baylor claimed the conference title for the second year in a row, finishing 21 shots ahead of the Tornados.
It is the best finish at the ASC Championships in school history and set the 54-hole record for the program, breaking the 1006 score shot at the Division III Golfweek Invite back on Oct. 11, 2016.
Madyson Milliorn finished as the individual runner-up at the tournament, shooting 73-78-76 – 230 over the three days, falling six shots short of the individual champion, the Cru's Olivia Robinson. It is the second year in a row a Tornado has been the runner-up at the ASC Championships.
For her championships performance, Milliorn was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Nevers, meanwhile, saved her best for last, shooting her lowest round of the weekend, including a one-under performance on the back nine. She carded a three-round score of 81-81-77 – 242 to finish in a tie-for-seventh. It is her second straight top-10 finish at the ASC Championships.
Makaela Lauritsen bounced back in the final round of the tournament, knocking in a pair of birdies on the day, finishing 86-88-79 – 253 for the tournament and in a tie-for-20
th.
Grace Savage, meanwhile, had the second-best score of the day for the Tornados, birdieing three of the first four holes on the back nine to card a 78 (+6), moving five spots up the leaderboard. She finished 84-91-78 – 253 for the championships and in a tie-for-20
th as well.
Tiana Shobe rounded out the day for CTX, firing a final round score of 85, finishing 83-90-85 – 274 for the tournament and placing 24
th overall.
The ASC Championships conclude the 2018-19 season for the Tornados, winning two team tournament titles and an individual title on the year and will return with all five starters next season.
