ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia Texas volleyball team won its second straight match and fourth in their last five games, coasting to sweep of Hardin-Simmons on Friday.

It is the Tornados' eighth sweep of the season and as they moved to 10-3 for the year, taking down the Cowgirls 25-19, 25-8 and 25-18.

Concordia Texas was impressive all around as three different players had at least five kills, led by Tristyn Massey's game-high nine on the day. Lianne VanDyke and Rylee Davis, meanwhile, each reached double figures in digs, both finishing with 10 for the match.

Georgia Quiroz, meanwhile, nearly had a double-double with 11 assists and seven digs, while at the net, five Tornados registered at least two blocks led by Cassie Jackson's five on the night.

In the first set, HSU would grab an early 11-7 lead after winning six straight points. Concordia Texas remained persistent though, chipping away at the deficit, and retook the lead at 15-14 after back-to-back Cowgirls' errors.

The Tornados would finish the set strong, winning the final five points, capped off by consecutive kills from Massey.

In the second set, CTX hit at a .318 mark and left no doubt after winning 15 of the set's first 19 points to grab a two-set advantage.

In the final set, the Tornados would hold off HSU's late comeback, finishing the match on an 8-2 run to clinch the win, remain undefeated in American Southwest Conference play and continue their best start to a season since 1990.

Concordia Texas will stay in Abilene, Texas and face McMurry on Saturday at noon, looking to move to 4-0 in conference play.
