ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's soccer team tallied 15 shots, including seven on goal, but were unable to even the score, falling to the University of Dallas 2-1 on Sunday.
The Tornados were aggressive offensively throughout the game, registering 10 shots in the first half alone, and finished with nine corner kicks total.
Savannah McHam provided CTX its earliest scoring opportunity with a rocket from the right side of the box in the 11th minute, but the Crusaders' Olivia Severson was there for the diving save at the near post.
Dallas, meanwhile, broke the scoreless tie in the 23rd minute, finding the back of the net off a corner kick set piece and led 1-0.
The Tornados looked to level it up in the final minutes of the period, but
Alicia Pineda's shot went wide of the goal and the team trailed 1-0 at the halfway point.
In the second half, the Crusaders would double their lead with a goal in the 67th minute.
Concordia Texas, though, continued to attack and were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box off a corner kick in the 74th minute.
Enyta Luminosu fired it past Severson for her first career goal and cut the deficit in half.
The Tornados would have one more goal-scoring chance in the final minutes of the game, but
Emily Newton's bending shot went just over the bar as CTX fell 2-1 to Dallas.
Up next, the Tornados will continue their home stand, opening conference play on Thursday when they host East Texas Baptist at 5 p.m. from the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas.
