BOX SCORE GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team began play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional on Thursday, competing in the opening round of the doubles matches.
The four-day regional, hosted by Southwestern, kicked off with the first round matches of the four doubles flights.
The Tornados started strong, winning six of their seven matches on the day.
In flight A,
Joshua Bode, Robin Van Der Heidjen and
Adrian Munguia,
Esteban Arredondo each won their opening matches. Bode and Van Der Heidjen faced East Texas Baptist in the first round, defeating the Tigers 8-6, while Mungia and Arredondo rolled to the
next round with an 8-5 victory over Centenary.
In flight B, CTX would snag two more wins.
Jorge Garcia and
Michael Davis teamed up for an 8-5 win against St. Thomas (TX). Riley O' Connor and
Evan Pena Jr., meanwhile, advanced to the next round after an 8-3 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Jesse West and
Corbin Hayes continued the Tornados' winning theme, cruising to an 8-3 win in the flight C bracket.
Mario Martinez and
Jacob Naiser wrapped up the day for CTX, defeating Schreiner 8-3 in the flight D doubles bracket.
The ITA Regional continues on Friday in Georgetown, Texas, as the teams will begin the opening rounds of the singles matches and play the second rounds of doubles.
