Tornados' win streak reaches five after sweep of Louisiana College

MARSHALL, Texas – Sarah Ghormley had a career-high 20 digs, Georgia Quiroz registered her fifth double-double of the season and the Concordia Texas volleyball team coasted to a sweep of Louisiana College on Friday for their fifth win in a row.

The Tornados faced off against the Wildcats in the first day of the American Southwest Conference crossover hosted by East Texas Baptist, rolling to their ninth sweep of the season, winning it 25-16, 26-24, 25-13.

Concordia Texas reached double-digit kills in all three sets, led by Tristyn Massey, who finished the match with a game-high 11 digs.

In the opening set, Massey led the charge, racking up six kills in the set alone as the Tornados hit at a .333 percentage and took a 1-0 lead.

In set two, LC would battle back and reach set point after a 7-2 run made it 24-21. The Tornados stayed resilient though, fending off three straight set-points and went on to win the set 26-24 after a Wildcats attack error and a Marjani Myles kill.

In the final set, CTX did not let up on LC, winning 15 of the set's first 20 points and sailing to a 3-0 win and remaining unbeaten in conference play.

Quiroz finished the day with 20 assists and 12 digs, while Massey nearly had a double-double with the 11 kills and nine digs. Ghormley also nearly finished with a double-double, registering 20 digs along with seven kills.

The Tornados will continue play in the crossover on Saturday when they will face the host Tigers at 10 a.m. followed by a showdown against Belhaven at 4 p.m. in Marshall, Texas.
