LOS ANGELES –The Concordia Texas men's soccer team reached 110 minutes of play but it was not enough to decide a winner, concluding in a 0-0 draw against Occidental on Friday.
Goalkeeper
Erik Rodriguez totaled a career-high nine saves and recorded his first shutout of the season, but the Tornados were unable to break through the Tigers' defense and find the back of the net.
In the first half,
Edgar Guerrero would register a shot on goal in the game's first 10 minutes, but goalie Will Baltrus was there for the save. Concordia Texas would tally one more shot in the half but remained in a scoreless tie at the halfway point.
In the second half,
Joel Abrego had a pair of goal-scoring opportunities but was unable to convert. Occidental, meanwhile, had nine shots, four of them on goal, but Rodriguez swallowed them up for the saves, including a late, clutch save in the 88th minute.
At the end of regulation, the teams remained scoreless and headed to overtime.
The Tornados and Tigers would play two overtime periods of 10 minutes each, but neither team was able to end the scoring drought and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Next, CTX will continue its west coast trip, facing Cal Lutheran on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
