Tornados fall on the road to Louisiana College

PINEVILLE, La. – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team faced Louisiana College on Thursday, falling to the Wildcats 76-53 inside H.O. West Fieldhouse.

The Tornados struggled offensively throughout the night and were unable to find their offensive rhythm against the Wildcats, shooting 27 percent from the field. Luis Gonzales, meanwhile, made it count at the free-throw line, hitting 6-of-8 from the charity stripe, finishing with a team-high 10 points along with three rebounds.

Early in the first half, CTX stayed with striking distance against the Wildcats after Gonzales knocked down a jumper with 16:13 to play. Louisiana College followed with an 11-3 spurt though to take a double-digit lead midway through the half.

The Tornados were able to close the gap to four after a pair of free throws by Spencer Bone, but it was as close as CTX would get as LC ended the half on an 18-5 run and took a 38-21 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Tornados forced 12 Wildcat turnovers resulting in 10 points and outscored LC 14-10 in the paint. Meanwhile, nine different players recorded at least a point in the second period for CTX, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit as the Tornados fell 76-53.

Alexander Estrada and Ronnie Hamilton each registered six points on the night, while Gonzalo Munoz grabbed a season-high six rebounds and added five points.

Next up, the Tornados will travel to Jackson, Miss., for a conference showdown against Belhaven on Saturday at 3 p.m.
