PINEVILLE, La. –
Summer Harper went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, but it was not enough as the Concordia Texas softball team came up short against Louisiana College 7-6 on a walk-off double on Saturday.
The Tornados scored a least a run in each of the first three innings and broke open the game with a 6-0 lead.
In the first, CTX took advantage of a pair of walks to
Ashley Hallmark and
Hailee Tinajero as Harper ripped a single down the left field line, bringing home both runners to make it 2-0.
The Tornados tacked on three more runs in the second as
Katie Hoke singled to lead off the inning followed by a walk to
Maddy Ellison. Both runners swiped a bag and Hoke scored on
Ashley Soto's RBI ground out, pushing the lead to 3-0.
Two more runs would come home in the inning due to a Wildcats' error, ballooning CTX's advantage to 5-0. In the third inning, Hoke's RBI single pushed the lead to 6-0 in favor of the Tornados.
Louisiana College, though, scratched across a run in the bottom half of the inning. In the following frame, the Wildcats scored five more runs and tied it up at 6-all.
In the seventh, LC walked it off with a double down the line as CTX fell 7-6 in the finale.
Anissa Garcia and Hoke each finished with a pair of hits, while Hallmark scored a run, drove in a run and added to her nation-leading stolen base tally, recording a steal on the day.
The Tornados will stay out on the road, traveling to Kerrville, Texas for a single game against Schreiner on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
