AUSTIN, Texas – With the score even at 1-1, a strike from
Falynn Pyterek found the back net, marking her first career goal and lifting the Concordia Texas women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Ozarks on Saturday.
Pyterek's game-winner came in the 76th minute, giving the Tornados an advantage that would last the distance. With the victory over Ozarks, CTX extends their unbeaten streak to five and advances their ASC record to 5-0.
In the first half, the Tornados pressed the attack early, as
Kallie Krenz recorded a pair of shots on-goal in the 15th and 23rd minutes.
Ozarks was the first team on the board, gaining a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute with their lone goal in the match.
With just over a minute remaining in the half, Krenz's third goal of the season tied the match at 1-1, scoring on an assist from
Patricia Heckendorn to even the score heading into the final 45 minutes.
Krenz's goal was her third score in the past four games, and Heckendorn has now recorded an assist in three straight games.
Emily Mowrer opened the second half with a shot on-goal in the 48th minute, and followed with another in the 55th minute, applying pressure to the Eagles' defense.
In the 76th minute, Pyterek fired a strike from long range, slicing the game-winner into the top right corner and giving the Tornados a 2-1 advantage.
With more stellar play from
Lora Tresco in the goal and the CTX back line, the Tornados held the lead until time expired, taking a 2-1 victory over Ozarks.
The Concordia Texas defense held the Eagles to just three shots on the day, and Tresco picked up a save in 90 minutes in the goal.
Kaley Kaspar fired three shots in the match, all three of them on-goal, and
Marissa Funk added three shots of her own, one of which was on-goal.
Now riding a five-match winning streak, the Tornados will look towards an ASC matchup with Howard Payne, heading to Brownwood, Texas for a 1 pm kickoff on Thursday.
