BELTON, Texas –
Emma Visser struck for an early goal in the match, but the Concordia Texas women's soccer team were unable to hold the advantage, falling 4-1 to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the regular season finale on Friday.
Visser's first goal as a Tornado came in the 14th minute, firing in a shot on a loose ball around the net, and gave CTX an early 1-0 lead.
After striking first, the Tornados were able to find one more scoring opportunity in the first half as
Marley Hennig struck a shot on-goal, but a save from the UMHB keeper kept the score at 1-0 in the 44th minute.
In the final minute of the half, the Cru knocked in the equalizer, evening the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.
In the second half,
Falynn Pyterek fired a shot on-goal in the 52nd minute, but she was unable to come away with a score.
In the 75th minute, UMHB found the back net with the game winner, taking a 2-1 lead.
The Tornados suffered two more goals in the final five minutes of the match, ultimately falling 4-1 to Mary Hardin-Baylor at the end of regulation.
With the regular season at a close, Concordia Texas will look towards the ASC Tournament, making their first postseason appearance since 2019. As the third seed, the Tornados will host the sixth-seeded East Texas Baptist for a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, set for a 4 pm kickoff.
