AUSTIN, Texas –
Sarah Ghormley and
Alyssa Legette each had personal-best achievements and recorded double-doubles, but it was not enough for the Concordia Texas volleyball team, falling to Southwestern in a five-set heartbreaker on Wednesday.
The Tornados closed out their four-game homestand, welcoming non-conference foe Southwestern into town. Concordia Texas jumped out to an 2-0 set advantage, but were unable to close out the match, falling in five sets 26-24, 25-21, 26-28, 17-25, 8-15.

Concordia Texas opened the third set with a 5-0 spurt, capped off by a Block kill. Southwestern cut down the Tornados' advantage though and took a lead of their own at 11-8.

Concordia Texas staved off three set points, but were unable to ever retake the lead as the Pirates made it 2-1 in the match.
Ghormley and Block combined for nine kills in the fourth frame, but it was not as SU evened the match at 2-all and forced a decisive fifth set.
In the fifth, the Tornados fell behind 8-1 before chipping away to make it 8-5 after
Jaya McCarty's kill.
The Pirates reeled off four straight points though and went on to win the match 3-2.
