Tornados come up short on the road against Sul Ross State

ALPINE, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's soccer team traveled to Alpine, Texas for their fourth straight match on the road, falling to American Southwest Conference opponent Sul Ross State 1-0 on Friday.
 
The Tornados recorded four shots on the day, including two on-goal from Emily Mowrer, but were unable to find the back net for a score.
 
The Tornados were unable to register a shot in the first half, but two early saves from goalkeeper Elizabeth Jones kept the game at a scoreless tie in the 35th minute.
In the 36th minute, SRSU broke the tie with the only score of the game. Jones recorded another save in the 43rd minute to keep it to a one-score game, and the Tornados trailed 1-0 at the halfway point.
 
In the second half, Cayla Gonzalez fired the Tornados first shot of the game in the 48th minute, but was unable to convert the scoring opportunity. Mowrer recorded a pair of shots on-goal in the 50th and 75th minute, but after 90 minutes of play, CTX fell 1-0.
 
Jones played all 90 minutes in the goal, totaling six saves on the match.
 
The Tornados look towards their home opener next week, hosting ASC foe Hardin-Simmons a Round Rock Multipurpose Center in Round Rock, Texas on Friday at 5 p.m.
