Tisdale shuts down the Lobos in 3-1 win

AUSTIN, Texas – Bailey Tisdale went the distance, allowing just two hits, while Erica Riley drove in three runs and the Concordia Texas softball team took down Sul Ross State 3-1 on Friday to open their three-game series.

The Tornados wasted no time in giving Tisdale an early lead, opening the game with three straight hits to score two runs.

Cristina Ayala led off the first with a triple, followed by a Megan Hooper single. Ayala and Hooper would both come around to score on Erica Riley's two-run triple into right-center to give CTX a 2-0 lead.

Meanwhile, Tisdale, escaped trouble in the first two frames, registering three strikeouts total, including one to end the second and strand a pair of Lobos.

Sul Ross State took advantage of a Tornados' error in the third though, scratching across a run to cut the lead in half at 2-1.

In the fifth, CTX regained their two-run advantage with a two-out rally as Hooper doubled down the line and scored on Riley's second hit of the game, an RBI single into left.

It was all Tisdale needed as she took over from there, retiring the final 10 batters in a row and the Tornados rolled to a 3-1 victory for her 11th win of the season.

Tisdale finished the game with  one unearned run, two hits and four strikeouts. Meanwhile, CTX tallied nine hits, including two-hit performances by Riley, Hooper and Ashley Soto.

The Tornados will go for the sweep on Saturday, hosting SRSU in a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. from Tornado Softball Field.
