Krenz's curler the difference in win over University of Dallas

IRVING, Texas – Kallie Krenz curled a right-footed shot into the back of the net in the 15th minute and it was all the Concordia Texas women's soccer team needed, recording their first shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory over University of Dallas on Friday.

The Tornados entered the matchup against the Crusaders seeking their first win of the season after suffering four losses to open the year.

In the first half, UD came out aggressive offensively, recording four shots in the game's first 14 minutes but goalie Lora Tresco and the CTX defense remained stout and kept the game scoreless.

Tresco, a freshman out of Houston, tallied six saves and posted her first career shutout in the win.

In the 15th minute, Elisa LeBoeuf intercepted a Crusaders' pass in the midfield and played it through to Krenz, who streaked down the left side of the field, took a touch just outside the box and curled her shot into the left side of the net for her first goal of the season and gave the Tornados a 1-0 lead.

University of Dallas registered 10 shots in the half, but CTX maintained their lead as the teams headed into halftime.

In the second half, the Tornados' defense limited the Crusaders to only six shots, two of them on frame.

In the final minute of the game, UD fired two on-goal shots, but both times Tresco was there for the save and the Tornados prevailed 1-0 over the Crusaders.

Concordia Texas will continue their road trip and go for their second win in a row on Thursday when they will travel to Longview, Texas to open conference play against LeTourneau at 5 p.m.
