SAN ANTONIO – Joshua Bode picked up a pair of wins in the Flight A singles bracket to advance to the quarterfinals as the Concordia Texas men's tennis team competed in the second day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional on Friday.

Bode, who won his opening singles match in straight sets on Thursday, had no issues in day two rolling past St. Thomas (TX)'s Jace Ware and Southwestern's Anton Borovik.

In his second round match, against Ware, Bode moved on with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. In the third round, Bode continued his flawless play, defeating Borovik in straight sets as well with a 6-1, 6-3 decision.

Meanwhile, teammates Esteban Arredondo and Evan Pena Jr., who also played in the second round of the flight A singles bracket, fell in their first matches of the day.

Arredondo came up short against the top-ranked player in the bracket, Trinity's Cameron Krimbill, 3-6, 1-6, while Pena Jr. fell to LeTourneau's Julian Lee 4-6, 0-6.

In the flight A consolation bracket, Jorge Garcia bounced back winning both of his matches. He opened the day taking down Schreiner's Mario Gallinar in a thrilling 5-7, 6-2, 11-9 win and followed with another marathon match, defeating Hardin-Simmons' Josh Lopez 6-3, 1-6, 15-13 to move onto the quarterfinals of the bracket.

Nico De La Pena's singles tournament run ended in the second round of the flight A consolation bracket, falling to UT Dallas' Carlos De Leon 6-1, 3-6, 2-10.

Jesse West's day ended in the second round of the flight B singles bracket, falling to Schreiner's Jonathan Barragan 3-6, 6-0, 6-10, while Jacob Naiser was unable to advance in the flight B consolation bracket.

In doubles, the Tornados had three doubles teams competing among the flight A and B brackets.

In flight A, Garcia and Pena fell in their opening match 4-8 as well as teammates Bode and Arredondo, who dropped their match in a 6-8 decision.

Meanwhile, in flight B, West and De La Pena teamed up for an 8-5 victory over Hendrix's Eric Meyne and Elijah Pierce to advance to second round of the bracket.

Next, Bode will take on the Tigers' Krimbill in his quarterfinal singles match, while Garcia will face the YellowJackets' Ryan Lyles in his flight A consolation quarterfinal matchup.

In flight B doubles, West and De La Pena will play against Howard Payne's Mo Goff and Clifford Greenwell.

The third day of the ITA Regional will get underway on Saturday at 8 a.m. on the campus of Trinity University in San Antonio.
