AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas volleyball team used a balanced effort to take down Sul Ross State in four sets.
Kinsy Haschke (15 kills, 13 digs) and
Sarah Ghormley (13 digs, 11 kills) posted double-doubles inside the Concordia Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
Selena Cooper (30 assists),
Kaitlyn Ruiz (16 digs) and
Camryn Parker (five blocks) all tallied game-highs in the victory.
The Tornados led wire-to-wire in the first set for a convincing 25-21 win. The Lobos responded by running away in game two for 25-16 win to tie the series.
CTX jumped out to a 9-3 lead in game three. A 5-0 run by Sul Ross late in the set made it 19-17 score, but the Tornados would hold on to lead with a kill by Ghormley preserving a 25-21 win in set three.
Concordia trailed 11-7, before they used an 11-1 burst to take control. The Lobos used a late push, but a kill by Parker capped off a decisive 25-18 game four win and match victory.
The Tornados will now go on the road to Longview, Texas on Friday, Oct. 21 where they will take on LeTourneau at 6 p.m.
