Second Half Surge Seals Men's Soccer Comeback Victory Over Hardin-Simmons

Marco Rodriguez Jr. fired the game winner on Thursday.

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Concordia Texas men's soccer junior forward Marco Rodriguez Jr. fired the game winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Hardin-Simmons. Carlos Huato and Antonio Rios also found the back of the net for the Tornados inside the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Thursday.

In a competitive conference matchup, both team battled in an intense match that was nearly identical in the box score.

Leo Lopez connected with Huato on a throw in for the first score of the game. The Cowboys answered almost immediately as both teams scored in the first four minutes of the match. The Cowboys took a 2-1 advantage in the 42nd minute to have the advantage at the half.

CTX found the equalizer in the 66th minute when Melvin Molina lob a pass into Marco Vazquez who then tapped the ball to Rios for the score. With time running down, Vazquez passed to Theo Givens who then crossed the ball to Rodriguez Jr. for the game-winning header in the 86th minute.

Concordia Texas will now prep for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 22 when they host McMurry at 1:30 p.m. The Tornados will honor their seniors during pre-game (immediately after the women's match).
