AUSTIN, Texas - Five Concordia Texas volleyball seniors were honored during the pregame of a sweep over Howard Payne.
Kinsy Hachke led the way offensively with 15 kills and eight digs in the final match inside the CTX Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
Freshman setter
Selena Cooper had 32 assists in a match where the next most assists was six only six.
Kaitlyn Ruiz was dynamic defensively with 15 digs, while
Dani Wysocki posted four aces.
The Yellowjackets raced out to an 8-1 lead in set one. Chipping away at the lead, the Tornados cut the deficit to 22-20 before an ace by Cooper capped off a 5-0 run to give CTX the game one win.
Concordia was down 12-11 when a kill by
Darby Stowers sparked an 8-0 flurry to give them breathing room. Howard Payne would answer with a 5-1 run, but the Tornados would earn a 25-20 win for a 2-0 advantage in the series.
CTX led 8-7 when they used a 6-0 burst to take control of set three. Cruising comfortably, the Tornados would earn the sweep with a 25-11 triumph.
Concordia Texas will now head to Belton, Texas this Tuesday to take on UMHB in the regular season finale at 6 p.m.
