Tornados fall at East Texas Baptist despite strong pitching from Tisdale, Loosemore

MARSHALL, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team opened the three-game series with East Texas Baptist, falling in both games of the doubleheader Thursday.

The Tornados were unable to string together hits in both games, being shutout in game two and game three by scores of 2-0 and 4-0, respectively.

In game one, Delaney Loosemore turned in a solid outing in the circle despite being credited with the loss, scattering ten hits and allowing only four earned runs while striking out three.

East Texas Baptist plated the first run of the day in the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead with an RBI double.

Kylie Pavlicek picked up a hit in the top of the second, but she and Megan Hooper were stranded and the score remained 1-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers did the rest of their damage, scoring three runs on three hits before Loosemore worked out and left the bases loaded. Headed into the fifth inning, the Tornados trailed 4-0.

Amaya Guerrero singled in the seventh, but that was all for CTX, and they ultimately fell 4-0 in the series opener.

The Tornados received a stellar pitching performance from Bailey Tisdale in game two as she allowed only two runs on five hits and struck out five along the way, but the Tornados were unable to push a run across and fell 2-0.

Erica Riley's first-inning single and Guerrero's base knock in the third were the only CTX hits in the game, but Tisdale was able to keep UMHB off the board through five innings, keeping the game scoreless.

The Tigers finally broke the tie in the sixth inning, capping off three consecutive hits with a two-RBI double to take a 2-0 lead.

In the seventh inning, Pavlicek worked a walk and Emily Schmuck was hit by a pitch, but they were stranded and CTX fell 2-0 in the nightcap.

Concordia Texas will look to bounce back and salvage the series with a win in the finale, squaring off with the Tigers at noon Friday in Marshall, Texas.
