AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team wrapped up the weekend set with Mary Hardin-Baylor, falling 5-1 in the series finale Saturday.
The Tornados trailed early and were never able to completely close the gap, and a three-run seventh inning from the Cru added additional insurance. Ultimately, Concordia Texas fell 5-1.
Ashley Hallmark picked up two doubles in the game, and
Ellie Congalton belted an RBI double.
After two scoreless innings to start, Mary Hardin-Baylor broke the tie in the top of the third, plating two runs on a pair of RBI walks. Heading into the bottom of the third, CTX trailed 2-0.
The Tornados cut the deficit in half in the fifth as
Ellie Congalton drove in
Caylee Spangle on an RBI double, bringing the score to 2-1.
In the top of the seventh, UMHB tacked on some insurance, scoring three runs on two hits and extending the lead to 5-1.
The Tornados were retired in order in seventh, ultimately falling 5-1.
Concordia Texas will head back out to the road for the next series, traveling to Marshall, Texas for a three-game set with East Texas Baptist beginning on Thursday at 5 p.m.
