Tornados roll past LETU, headed to the ASC Championship match

BOX SCORE GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team is headed to the American Southwest Conference championship match for the second year in a row, besting Letourneau 5-2 in the semifinal Friday.
 
The Tornados won two of three doubles matches and followed with three wins in singles play, clinching the win with Jorge Garcia's victory at line six.
 
In doubles play, Joshua Bode and Adrian Munguia picked up the first victory, rolling past the LETU duo 8-3 at line one.
 
At line two, Esteban Arredondo and Andres Padilla won 8-5, giving the Tornados a 2-1 lead heading into the singles matches.
 
In singles play, Bode made quick work LETU's Lee at line one, winning 6-3, 6-1.
 
Next, Munguia earned the second victory, besting Vazquez 6-3, 6-1 at line two to put CTX one win away from taking the match.
 
Finally, Garcia ended the affair with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win at line six, giving the Tornados their fifth win and closing out the match.
 
With the semifinal win, Concordia Texas earns the right to defend their ASC Championship in the finals match. The Tornados will square off with Hardin Simmons at 2:30 p.m. at River Place Country Club.
