Volleyball Finishes Millsaps/Belhaven Invitational Undefeated

Tornados are on a four match win streak.

JACKSON, Miss - The Concordia Texas volleyball program finished the Millsaps/Belhaven Invitational undefeated as they beat Millsaps and Centenary (La.) in dominant fashion on Saturday. The Tornados are now over .500 for the first time this season following a four-match win streak inside the Hangar Dome.

(MATCH ONE) Vs. Millsaps: W, 3-1 (25-18, 25-27, 25-14, 25-21)

Sarah Ghormley (22 digs, 18 kills) and Kinsy Haschke (16 kills, 16 digs) both tallied double-doubles to lead the way for the Tornados. Freshman Camryn Parker totaled 12 kills while Dani Wysocki had 12 digs. Alyssa Legette (25) and Selena Cooper (21) spearheaded the assist column for CTX.

Jockeying for position in set one, both teams reached a 10-10 tie. Later in the set, a kill by Haschke capped a 10-2 burst by the Tornados. CTX would use that momentum to win set one 25-18.

It was a close set two throughout the series, but the Majors gained breathing room with a 21-17 advantage. Concordia Texas would fight their way back into game and tie it at 24-24, but Millsaps would end up holding on 27-25 to tie the match at 1-1.

The Tornados dominated the go-ahead set, and led by as much as 13 points to take a 2-1 lead. In the crucial game four, both teams were linked at 19-19 late. Smelling blood in the water, CTX blitzed the Majors with a 5-0 run emphasized by back-to-back aces by Ghormley to give Concordia Texas the victory.

(MATCH TWO) Vs. Centenary: W, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-16)

Haschke (match-high 13 kills), Jennika Willis (10 kills), Legette (match-high 24 assists) and Cooper (13 assists) were exceptional on the attack for Concordia in match two. Wysocki (17) and Ghormley (14) tallied double-digit digs once again for the Tornados.

The action was even midway through the first set as the score was tied 10-10. CTX would take over from this point with a kill by Haschke pushing the score to 19-14. The Tornados would finish off the first game strong when Cooper help set up first-year outside hitter Ana Muldez for the final kill of set one.

CTX started the second set on a 8-2 run. The Ladies inched their way back into the series to take the lead at 16-15. Concordia responded with four straight points to regain the edge. Centenary made one more push, but the Tornados held on for the 25-22 win to go up two games to none.

Tied 13-13, CTX went on a 12-3 flurry to end the match and complete their first sweep of the season.

After playing six consecutive matches away from home, Concordia Texas will finally host another home match when they host UT-Dallas for an ASC matchup. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
