MARSHALL, Texas - Concordia Texas men's soccer senior forward
Marco Vazquez tallied a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory over ETBU. Junior forward
Theo Givens also found the back of the net at Cornish Field on Thursday.
Junior goalkeeper
Bradley Wadas posted four saves, and sophomore defender
Cameron Burleson earned his first career assist in the clean sheet for CTX in their ASC opener. Outshooting their opponent 26-14, the Tornados were the aggressors for the majority of the match.
The Tornados struck early in the fourth minute when Vazquez crossed the ball onto the opposite side of the box where Givens launched a rocket into the upper left corner of the net.
Midway through the first, Givens almost scored his second goal of the match with a header via a lob from junior midfielderÂ
Christian Barillas. Minutes later, Burleson stole the ball from a Tiger and crossed the ball into the box to Vazquez for a 2-0 lead heading into half. The halftime result stood true as the final score when neither team would score in the second half.
CTX will next travel to Longview, Texas on Saturday to take on LeTourneau at 3:30 p.m.
