AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's basketball team was downed in a ASC matchup against Hardin-Simmons. Six Tornados reached double-digit scoring led by
Luis Gonzalez (20 points) on Saturday.
The Cowboys jumped out to a 18-7 lead early. Keeping their distance for much of the half, the closest the Tornados came within the deficit is 38-31 following an assist from
Jaylon Johnson to
Branden Myart for three. Hardin-Simmons would answer with another run, to take a 57-42 advantage into the break.
The Tornados opened up the second half with a made layup by Stafford to make it 57-44. The Cowboys' lead grew once again, but CTX retaliated with an 8-0 burst with Gonzalez finding Stafford for a jumper to make it a 74-63 game with just over 11 minutes left. Concordia could not make it a single-digit game again as HSU earned the victory.
Concordia Texas will have a week off before they travel to Belton, Texas to take on UMHB next Saturday Tip off is set for 1 p.m.
