AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas volleyball team was outlasted in a five set marathon against Luther College. Junior outside hitter
Savannah Kari posted a 22, dig, 17 kill double-double inside of the CTX Fieldhouse on Sunday.
Both teams traded runs throughout game one that saw the set knotted up at 25-all late. The Norse notched the final two points to claim the first game.
Luther College surged ahead to a 19-5 lead in game two. A 4-0 run capped with a kill by
Rayna Pack gave CTX life late in the match, but the Norse would prevail 25-13.
An 8-1 flurry emphasized by an
Isabella Martinez ace put CTX ahead early. Keeping their foot on the gas, Concordia won their first game of the afternoon with a 25-14 win finished with a kill by
Nicole Deering.
Set four was tied at 18-all when the Tornados gained separation with three straight points. This gap would be enough to help Concordia Texas to the 25-22 win and force the decisive fifth set.
The Norse pushed ahead to an 8-3 lead, but the Tornados would respond when an
Olivia Robinson kill sparked a 9-1 run to give CTX a 12-9 advantage. With both teams jockeying for the win, the match was tied at 15-all before Luther converted for two straight points and the win.
Concordia Texas will now return back to conference play where they will head to Abilene to take Hardin-Simmons next Friday, October 20th at 6 pm.
