ABILENE, Texas- The Concordia Texas volleyball team fought hard in a four-set battle against Hardin Simmons. The Tornados claimed set one inside of the Mabee Complex on Friday.
In the beginning of the first set for CTX it was a back-and-forth battle until a kill by Rayna Pack sparked a 5-0 burst at the end of the set to put Concordia on top, 22-17. Tornado senior Pack blasted another kill to claim set one, 25-23.
The Tornados started set two on fire going on a 5-0 run. To extend the led for CTX Camryn Parker boomed a kill to spark a 4-0 run to bring the score 9-4. Midway in the set the matchup became a thriller with back-to-back scores by both teams to tie up the match 17-17. A kill by Presley Bunting cut the deficit for the Tornados but HSU went on to claim the set, 25-19.
Concordia put the first points on the board to start the third set to get off to a fast start. Most of the set was a back-and-forth battle, until HSU went on to claim set three, 25-19. The fourth set continued to be a competitive matchup with both offenses scoring back-and-forth until HSU took control and claimed set three in a 25-12 match victory.
The Tornados will continue road play in Abilene to take on McMurry University on Oct. 21st at 1 pm inside Kimbrell Arena.
