ABILENE, Texas- The Concordia Texas volleyball team fell in a three-set matchup against McMurry University. Junior setter Kaitlyn Ruiz led the charge for the Tornados with 18 assist and eight digs inside Kimbrell Arena on Saturday.
Set one of the day started in a back-and-forth offensive battle until a killed by Presley Bunting sparked a 3-0 run to extend the lead for the Tornados, 11 to 7. CTX maintain control for most of the set until McM went on a 12-1 run to claim the first set, 25-23.
The second set consisted of both offenses firing back-to-back scores in a competitive matchup with the score being tied 15-15 midway through the set. A kill by Haylee Diebel kept Concordia alive but the War Hawks pulled away with a 5-2 run to come away with the win, 25-21 in set two.
McMurry started the third set with a 5-3 lead until a kill by Camryn Parker lit a 7-1 run to put CTX on top but McM ultimately pulled away to claim the matchup, 25-17.
The Tornados will continue action on the road to Belton Texas to face-off off against University of Mary Hardin Baylor on October 24th at 6 pm.
