ABILENE, Texas- The Concordia University Texas men's soccer team battled hard against McMurry for a 2-0 victory in a Thursday night matchup. Paul Claffey and Alejandro Rojas both tallied a goal for the Tornados to secure the win inside Wilford Moore Stadium.
With five shots fired and just one allowed by MCM, the Tornadoes came out firing on both ends of the ball.
In the 52nd minute, Bernabe Torres and Rojas connected with a cross into a header for a goal to open up the second half. Brock Hendrickson secured a stop in the final four minutes to prevent the Warhawks from tying the score.
In the closing seconds of the match, junior forward Claffey scored the game-sealing goal for the Tornados with a a steal and assist from Leo Lopez to close match up,2-0.
The Tornados will continue road play in Abilene, Texas for a back-to-back conference matchup against Hardin-Simmons University on Oct. 21 at 7:30 PM.
