BROWNWOOD, Texas - Concordia Texas sophomore guard
Jordan Bravo posted a career-high 25 points in a 69-63 loss at Howard Payne University. Junior guard
Mikayla Johnson also reached double figures inside Brownwood Coliseum on Saturday.
Bravo got off to a hot start, scoring seven of the first nine points for the Tornados. Concordia's lead would grow to as much as six points in the first quarter before taking a 15-13 lead into the second.
The Yellowjackets notched the first eight points of the second quarter to claim their first lead of the game at 21-15. Their lead stretched to as much as 27-19, but
Olivia Dummer found Johnson on the wing for a three-pointer to stop the damage.Â
Trailing 29-21 at the half, CTX blitzed their opponents in the third with a 16-7 burst to retake a 37-36 advantage with 1:22 left in the period. Howard Payne would respond with a bucket to take the slight lead into the final quarter.
Both teams traded baskets throughout the final quarter for a 57-all standstill with only two minutes remaining. A 6-0 run would give the Yellowjackets enough breathing room to escape with the conference victory in the waning moments.Â
Concordia Texas will be back in action on the road this Monday, Dec. 18th at Sul Ross State University. Tip off is set for 2 p.m.
