AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas women's basketball seniors Chelsea Cogborn, Kennedy Donovan, Madi Maxwell, and Havyn Perez were honored in the final home game of the season for Senior Day. The Tornados fell in a 61-54 decision against UT-Dallas inside the CTX Fieldhouse on Saturday.
The Comets used an 8-0 burst to take a 17-9 lead late in the first quarter. A jumper by Cogborn killed the damage as the Tornados responded with a 17-3 run that spanned over two quarters to claim 24-20 lead midway through the second quarter. Both teams would remain neck-and-neck for a 33-32 advantage to UT-Dallas at the break.Â
Both teams remained deadlocked throughout the third frame as the game headed into the fourth tied 46-all. The Comets kicked off the final quarter with an 8-0 run. Maxwell found Cogborn for a corner jumper to stop the bleeding, but heavy defensive pressure by the visitors would stand steady as UT-Dallas held on for a 61-54 victory.
Concordia Texas will next head to Abilene, Texas to take on conference leader Hardin-Simmons on Thursday, Feb. 16. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.Â
