Men's Basketball Falters in Regular Season Finale at McMurry

A season-high, seven players scored in double figures for the Tornados on Saturday.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's basketball team was downed 103-98 against McMurry University. A season-high, seven players scored in double-figures inside the Kimbrell Arena on Saturday.

The Warhawks started off the game hot, and led by as many 11 points midway through the first half. They led 44-34 late in the half, but Concordia finished the half on a 13-1 flurry to take a 47-45 lead into the break.

Continuing the same theme as the first half, McMurry came out the second half strong with a 11-2 burst in the first three minutes of the second. They pushed their lead back up to double digits at 63-53, but Branden Myart would drive into the pain for a lay up to spark a 16-7 run for CTX to make the score 70-69 with 10:42 remaining.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the remainder of the half, but the Warhawks were able to extend their lead back to double digits again at 99-89 with 2:15 left. A quick 7-0 flurry kept Concordia alive to make the score 99-96 with 53 seconds left following a thunderous Antoine Henderson dunk off a feed from Myart, but McMurry answered once again with a bucket of their own on the next possession. This would price to be enough to fend off the Tornados for the win.

Concordia Texas will now shift their focus to the ASC playoffs and head back to Abilene, Texas to take on Hardin-Simmons in the quarterfinal on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
