ALPINE, Texas - The Concordia women's basketball team put up a great effort in a loss against Sul Ross State University. Three players ended the game in double figures in the 71-63 final inside the Gallego Center on Saturday.
Chelsea Cogborn,
Bailey Andrews, and
Madi Maxwell scoree 10-plus points each, shooting a combined 50% from the field. Cogborn alone shot 63% from the field, the highest on the team for the
Alena Johnston and Andrews combined for a total of four three-pointers in just five attempts.
The Tornados shot 40.6% overall (26-64), 38.4% from the three-point, and 6-7 from the free throw line. They also recorded 29 rebounds and eight steals in the contest.
The Tornados held their own ground in the first half having outscored the Lobos by 6 points in the first half with the score being 39-33 going into the second half of the game. CTX's lead reached as much as 10 points early in the third quarter, but both teams entered the final frame deadlocked at 52-all. The Lobos took control with a 10-0 run to start the fourth, and held on for the victory.
Concordia Texas will stay on the road to take on Howard Payne this Monday, February 6th at 5:30 p.m.
