RICHARDSON, Texas - Concordia Texas men's tennis player Adrian Munguia earned the first American Southwest Conference Player of the Week Honors, the league's office announced on Tuesday. The senior out of Harligen, Texas earned a pair of victories in the 9-0 sweep against St. Thomas this Saturday. This is the first Player of the Week honor in Munguia's career.

Munguia started the season strong in position two with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in singles play. He followed that up with a 8-3 triumph in doubles action on court one.

Coming off a successful fall campaign where he collected two victories in singles and reached the quarterfinals in the knockout stage of the ITA Regionals, Munguia is hungry for more success. Dating back to last season in the fall, Munguia has posted four victories in his last five matches. He and duos partner Joshua Bode have won nine of their last 10 matches with the only loss being to Division I foe Rice.

You can next see Munguia and the Tornados this Friday when they host Howard Payne at Leander High School at 2 p.m. to kick off ASC play.
