AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas women's basketball senior guard
Havyn Perez was everywhere on the court with her first career triple-double (14 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) in the 82-68 win over the University of the Ozarks. Fellow fourth-year guard
Madi Maxwell posted her second double-double of the season with game-highs 20 points and 11 rebounds as five Tornados scored in double figures inside the CTX Fieldhouse on Thursday.
The Ozarks took a slim three-point lead into the second quarter thanks to a 7-3 burst in the first. CTX knotted the game up early at 23-23 in the second quarter when
Chelsea Cogborn kicked the ball out to
Alena Johnston for three. Concordia would keep surging as they finished the half of a 16-3 run with a three by Perez capping a 25-point quarter to give CTX a 43-35 lead at the break.
Neither team would gain ground for much of the third quarter, until the Tornados finished the frame with a 9-2 burst to take a 14-point advantage into the fourth. The Eagles cut the deficit down to as little as eight points, but a Perez assist to
Jordan Bravo sparked the final push of a 14-5 run for Concordia. CTX would ultimately cruise to the crucial conference victory.
Concordia Texas will next host UT-Dallas this Saturday, Feb. 11th for Senior Day. The Senior Day festivities will partake after the women's game. Tip off is set for 1 p.m.
