LONGVIEW, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team split a doubleheader with the LeTourneau Yellowjackets on Saturday. After winning game one on Friday, the Tornados dropped game two 4-2 and won game three 7-6 to secure the series victory at LETU Softball Field on Saturday.
GAME ONE: L, 4-2
The Tornados struck first with a groundout RBI by Megan Hooper to score Mindy Matthews. LeToruneau answered with one run in the third and fourth inning.Â
CTX tied the game at 2-2 when Kylie Denaro stole home in the top of the fifth, but LETU earned the victory with the final two runs of the game thanks to a two-out triple in the bottom of the frame.

GAME TWO: W, 7-6
Game two saw more action offensively where the Tornados posted their largest comeback of the season as they were down 5-0 after the first three innings. Grace Coleman got CTX on the scoreboard with a base hit to score Hooper in the fourth. Later in the inning, Kaelyn Cash made it 5-3 with a base hit to bring home Nadia Lopez and Coleman. A groundout to second by Denaro was enough to bring Emma Chavez home and cap off a four-run inning for CTX. Â
Concordia surged ahead for a 6-5 advantage in the sixth when Cash and Lopez scored again following errors by the Yellowjackets. They then added an insurance run when Hooper sprinted towards home following a wild pitch. LeTourneau attempted a comeback and scored one in the final inning, but CTX stood strong to record the final out and the series victory.
