AUSTIN, Texas - It was a historic day at Tornado Softball Field as junior outfielder Megan Hooper became the program's all-time steals leader (47) in the game two win against 21st-ranked Hardin-Simmons University. The Tornados dropped game one 6-4, and earned their third win over a ranked team with a 9-3 decision in game two on Saturday.
GAME ONE: L, 6-4
Capitalizing on two early errors, the Cowgirls scored two runs in the top of the first.Â
The Tornados answered with four runs in the bottom of the innings as there first five batters tallied a base hit, and Grace Coleman launched a two-run triple off the left field wall to highlight the inning.
Hardin-Simmons reclaimed the lead at 5-4 in the third, and they added one more insurance run in the top of the seventh inning to win game one.

GAME TWO: W, 9-3
Delaney Loosemore and the CTX defense played lights out throughout as HSU did not get their first hit until the third inning in game two.
CTX jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning where Hooper got her record-setting  steal. Mindy Matthews tallied a RBI-single when she scored Cristina Ayala and a run off a wild pitch to push the advantage up to 6-0 in the second frame.Â
Threatening to break the game open, the Tornados loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the third. Concordia would then push the lead to 8-0 when Zaleigh Perez smacked a two-RBI single up the middle.Â
Just on the edge of getting run-ruled, the Cowgirls survived by posting one run in the fifth inning. They then added two more runs in the sixth to make it an 8-3 game. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Hardin-Simmons had a chance to cut into the lead even more, but CTX held firm to keep the score at bay. The Tornados added insurance in the bottom of the inning when Hooper belted a RBI-single up the middle to score Myranda Billman. This would be the final run of the afternoon as Concordia would even the series at 1-1.
