AUSTIN, Texas - 21st-ranked Hardin-Simmons University escaped with a 3-2 victory (eight innings) in game three of the series against the Concordia Texas softball team. The Tornados were one out away from claiming the series at Tornado Softball Field on Saturday.

The Tornados got on the scoreboard first in the third inning when Kylie Denaro raced from second to home on an infield throwing error. Later in the inning, a sac fly by Grace Coleman scored Cristina Ayala to make the score 2-0. 

The Cowgirls made it a 2-1 game in the sixth inning. With another runner in scoring position, HSU almost tied it but Coleman made an incredible grab in centerfield to keep the one-run lead heading into the final inning. 

Down to their last out, Hardin-Simmons posted a triple and RBI-single to knot the game up at 2-all. They then posted one more run in the eighth inning for their first lead of the game. This would be the final score of the game as Hardin-Simmons would escape with the win

Concordia Texas will now head to UT-Dallas for a conference matchup starting with a doubleheader next Friday, March 31st at 4 p.m.
