MARSHALL, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team was bested in a doubleheader against ASC foe East Texas Baptist. Freshman designated hitter Mason Vasquez continued his hot-hitting weekend with three more RBIs on Saturday.
GAME ONE: L, 8-1 (Seven Innings)
ETBU took advantage of an error and plated three runners in the first inning. They would then add two runs in the second and one run in the third to take a 6-0 lead.Â
CTX cut into the deficit in the top of the fourth inning when Vazquez ripped a RBI-single down the left field line to score Chris Morrow. The Tigers would push their lead to 8-1 in the following half-inning with a two-run homer for the final score of the game.

GAME TWO: L, 12-5
CTX tallied two runs in the top of the third when Vasquez and EJ Sanchez were walked with the bases loaded to score Matthew Armes and Morrow. The Tigers evened the game in the bottom of the frame and then claimed a 4-2 lead in fourth inning. Concordia knotted the game up in the following inning after a Morrow solo homer and a groundout RBI by Vasquez to score Kalen Clark.Â
East Texas Baptist surged ahead with four runs each in the fifth and seventh innings. CTX loaded the bases in the eighth inning, and Brandon Goynes was hit by a pitch to send Aaron Gomez home. ETBU would eventually hold up to earn the game three victory.Â
Concordia Texas will now travel to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Russmatt Tournament March 10-12.
