AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas softball senior pitcher Delaney Loosemore tossed a complete game and held #13 East Texas Baptist University to a season-low one run in a 3-1 victory. The Tornados exploded for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to claim the series finale inside Tornado Softball Field on Saturday.
Concordia threatened to score with a lead-off triple by Kylie Denaro and two runners in scoring position in the first, but the Tigers escaped out the inning unscathed. A ETBU player did not reach base until the third inning where they loaded up the bases, but Loosemore continued her stellar performance and allowed no runs.
The Tigers struck first on the scoreboard with a two-out, RBI in the top of the fifth. CTX responded in the bottom of the frame when Denaro stole two bases and Grace Coleman sent her home with a RBI-single to tie the game. They then took the lead following back-to-back RBI-doubles to center field by Emily Schmuck and Kylie Pavlicheck for a 3-1 advantage. Loosemore and the CTX defense would hold firm in the final innings to win game three.
Concordia Texas will now travel to Kerrville, Texas to take on Schreiner University in a double header on Monday, March 6. Game one will be at 4 p.m., and game two (Feature Game) will follow immediately after.
