KERRVILLE, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team dropped an early week contest to Schreiner University, 7-3. Emily Schmuck had a solid outing with three hits and three RBIs at Mountaineer Field on Monday.
The Tornados came out on fire as their first four batters reached based with a Schmuck RBI-single scoring Mindy Matthews to up 1-0 in the first. The Mountaineers claimed the lead in the third frame following a three-run homer. They then added two more runs in the fourth for a 5-1 advantage.
The Tornados would answer as Schmuck tacked on two more RBIs with a double to bring home Grace Coleman and Matthews for a 5-3 score. Schreiner posted a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth, and they would leave the tying run at the plate for the win.
Concordia Texas will now hit the road for Longview, Texas to take on LeTourneau in a series-opener doubleheader on Friday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
