AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team was downed 12-4 in the series finale at Sul Ross State University. Second-year outfielder Grace Coleman powered her first homer of the season at Lobo Softball Field on Saturday.
Sul Ross went up 2-0 after the first, but Emma Chavez and Mindy Matthews posted back-to-back RBI singles up the middle to tie the game in the top of the second. In the bottom of the inning, Sul Ross tallied six runs on six hits to take an 8-2 advantage.
Concordia cut into the deficit when Coleman sent a two-run (Emily Schmuck) shot to left field to make it an 8-4 game in the third. The Lobos would answer again as they added four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Leading by eight, Sul Ross would allow no more runners to cross the plate as they claimed the 12-4 victory.
Concordia Texas will now head to Abilene, Texas to take on McMurry in the final ASC road trip of the season. Starting with a doubleheader next Friday, April 21st, first pitch is set for 3 p.m.
