JACKSON, Miss. - The Concordia Texas men's soccer team dominated in a matchup against Millsaps and claimed a 3-1 victory. CTX had a perfect first half with zero fouls and outshot the Majors 11-2 inside Harper Davis Field.
The Tornados had a very strong offensive start, shooting three shots in the first 12 minutes of the game. Relentless with their pressure early on in the matchup, CTX only allowed two shot attempts in the first half.
Senior midfielder Christian Barillas made a great move by juking the defender to score the first goal of the game at the 20th minute.
Late in the first half, the Majors managed to break through the Tornados defense to tie up the game, 1-1. The Tornados responded three minutes later with a powerful shot by Jose Aguirre to score for CTX in the 37th minute to bring the score 2-1 going into the half.
Second half started off slow for both teams, but Concordia continued to hold on strong defensively. To increase the lead for the Tornados, junior midfielder Antonio Rios darted a low center goal in the 65th minute to bring the score 3-1 for the last score of the game.
Next up the Tornados will travel back to Texas to face-off against Southwestern University on Sep 22 (Fri) at 7 PM.
