ROUND ROCK, Texas - Concordia University Texas women's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw against the University of St. Thomas. Junior
Erin Folkner capitalized on a corner kick and fired the equalizer in the 88th minute inside the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.
It was an even match throughout as both teams were nearly identical in shot attempts, saves and corner kicks.
The Tornados almost got on the board early when a shot by
Kallie Krenz sailed just high in the second minute. Just a few minutes later,
Maddie Oberholtzer had a shot blocked and a Krenz header just missed the goal. The Celts notched the first goal of the match in the 24th to take the lead into the half.
Streaking down the right side, Krenz almost curved a shot into the net from the top right corner of the box but hit the top of the crossbar early in the second half. Midway through the half,
Falynn Pyterek found Oberholtzer on a run who narrowly missed high.
With CTX pressing for the equalizer, Krenz powered a shot on the left wing that was on the mark but saved in the 83rd. Keeping their foot on the gas, Concordia broke through when Pyterek's corner kick found Folkner on the opposite side to knot the match and result in a tie.
Concordia Texas will now head to San Antonio to take on Trinity on Wednesday, September 20th at 7 p.m.
