Women’s Soccer Battles to Draw in Conference Opener Against LeTourneau

Erin Folkner & Maddie Oberholtzer scored for the Tornados.

ROUND ROCK, Texas- The Concordia Texas women's soccer team fought to a 2-2 draw against LeTourneau University in the conference opener. Erin Folkner & Maddie Oberholtzer found the back of the net inside the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Thursday.

The Yellowjackets struck early with a run into a goal in the 8th minute. The Tornados responded by capitalizing on a handball where Folkner scored a penalty goal five minutes later.

CTX then notched the go-ahead goal in the 38th when Madelynn Murphy placed a cross into the box for Oberholtzer who fired the ball off the upper middle of the crossbar and in.

As both teams battled in the second half, neither could break through until LeTourneau connected on a last second prayer with four seconds remaining for the tie.

Concordia Texas will remain at home to host East Texas Baptist University this Saturday, September 30th at 1 p.m.
