ABILENE, Texas - A late run by McMurry University was enough to upend Concordia Texas women's basketball team by a score of 86-68. Junior guard Daysha Tijerina matched her career-high for the second straight game inside Kimbrell Arena on Thursday.
Both teams traded a pair of three-pointers to kick off the game. The trend would continue through the first quarter, and Concordia would hold a 16-15 lead entering the second when Jordan Bravo found Tijerina for her second three-pointer of the quarter.
The Warhawks were able to gain a seven-point advantage, but CTX closed out the first half on a 10-3 run in the final two minutes to tie the game at 38-all.
The Tornados led 54-53 with just over three minutes remaining in the third, but McMurry would find a double-digit lead thanks to a 16-4 burst. A Chelsea Cogborn jumper made it a 70-62 game with 7:38 left, but this would be the closest Concordia would get for the remainder of the game.
Concordia Texas will now remain in Abilene where they will take on Hardin-Simmons this Saturday at 1 p.m.
