BELTON,Texas- The Concordia Texas men's basketball team was bested in a rival matchup against Mary Hardin Baylor, 94-64. First-year guard Corey Thompson notched his third consecutive double-figure scoring game with a team-high 14 points inside Mayborn Campus Center.
To open up the first half, the Tornados found their offensive rhythm five minutes into the contest with a pair back-to-back threes by Thompson to put CTX on board and trim UMHB lead by three points. Approaching midway through the first half, Adolfo Martinez fired in two more threes in a row to cut into the deficit for CTX at 17-12.
Coming down to the final five minutes of the first half, Thompson continued his solid play by completing a four point conversion to make it a one point game, 28-27. Minutes before the end of the first half, UMHB went on a 11-2 run to bring the score to 39-29 at halftime.
Coming out of intermission Concordia looked to spark a burst with a steal by Henri Marcus Vizcarrondo Jr. and pass to Thompson for a pull up jumper. UMHB would ultimately begin to stretch the lead under midway through the second half and go on to claim the win.
Concordia Texas will continue road play and head to Longview, Texas to take on LeTourneau University January 25 at 7:30 PM.
