BELTON,Texas- The Concordia women's basketball team came up short in the I-35 road battle against Mary Hadin-Baylor, 84-68. The Tornados shot a season-high 53.1 percent from the floor (26-49) inside Mayborn Campus Center.
To begin the game, UMHB took the early lead early. With only about a minute remaining in the quarter, Daysha Tijerina drilled in a three-pointer to give CTX their first lead in the game.
To open up the second quarter, both teams traded buckets offensively to combine for 12 lead changes in the half. Little under midway through the 2nd quarter in a tight contest, a deep three sunk in by Jordan Bravo kept the Tornados in the lead 31-30. In the final minute before halftime, the Crusaders went on a 9-0 run to take a 39-31 lead.
Three minutes into the third quarter both teams proceeded to trade buckets with UMHB ahead 45-37.
To close out the third quarter in the last two minutes, CTX sparked a 9-2 run to make in 7-point game going into the fourth. This would be the closest the Tornados would get as the Crusaders would go on to claim the win.
Concordia Texas will next travel on the road to Longview, Texas to take on LeTourneau University on Thursday, January 25 at 5:30 PM.
