AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team was defeated 64-43 in a home contest against UT-Dallas. Freshman post scorer Haven Haymes notched a team-high 12 points inside the Concordia Fieldhouse on Thursday.
The Comets led 5-0 early by holding the Tornados scoreless through the first three minutes of the game. Concordia got on the scoreboard when Sam Ising put back her own layup attempt. This would spark a 9-3 run for the Tornados where they would take their first lead of the game when Jordan Bravo found Daysha Tijerina for a three-pointer with 2:53 remaining in the first. The Comets led 17-13 after the first frame by ending the quarter strong.
UT Dallas pushed their lead to 21-13 early in the second, before CTX closed the gap with 7-3 burst to cut the deficit to one with 4:15 left in the first half. The Comets were able to carry a 30-22 advantage into the break by closing the second out on a 9-2 run.
UTD broke the game open with an 18-3 flurry in the third. Their lead would reach as much as 25 points en route to their victory.
Concordia Texas will now remain at home where they will host the University of the Ozarks this Saturday at 1 p.m.
